Dr Emmanuelle Soubeyran has been elected as the Director General of the World Organization for Animal Health (WOAH), beginning her five-year term on August 1, 2024.

With a solid foundation in veterinary medicine and expertise in veterinary public health and epidemiology, she has significant experience in managing animal health crises, including avian influenza and bluetongue.

Dr Soubeyran has played a crucial role in developing emergency response plans and preventive measures for various health threats, while also advocating for "One Health" initiatives to tackle antimicrobial resistance and zoonoses in collaboration with the human health and environmental sectors.
